Helyette Geman, award-winning commodity finance professor and advisor to governments and some of the largest financial service companies and commodity firms, has been named Special Advisor to Commodity Talent LLC, the New York-based global executive recruitment firm announced today.

Geman is renowned for bringing rigorous quantitative methods to the study of commodity markets. Generations of her graduate students, including Black Swan author Nassim Taleb, now occupy leading positions across a wide spectrum of investment, business, university and governmental organizations. Her book Commodities and Commodity Derivatives: Energy, Metals and Agriculturals, has become the reference book in the field and she is a frequent speaker at conferences on commodity markets.

Helyette Geman is a Professor of Finance at Birkbeck, University of London where she is the Director of the Commodity Finance Centre and ESCP Europe. She is a graduate of Ecole Normale Superieure in Mathematics, holds a Masters degree in Theoretical Physics and a PhD in Probability from the University Pierre et Marie Curie and a PhD in Finance from the University Pantheon Sorbonne. Professor Geman has been for the last 18 years a scientific advisor to major banks, energy and mining companies as well as commodity houses, covering the spectrum of interest rates, catastrophic risk, crude oil and electricity, metals and agriculturals (land and water).
