The certification is earned by passing a series of rigorous 3rd Party independent audits and product testing to assure that a manufacturing facility's processes, manufacturing procedures and products adhere to ASTM and other nationally recognized manufacturing standards.
The testing is conducted by Intertek, one of the world's largest providers of auditing, inspections, testing, quality assurance and certification of companies' products and processes.
Atlas was one of only six North American tubular producers to achieve certification and the only company to certify three manufacturing locations.
David W. Seeger, president of JMC Steel Group, Atlas Tube's parent company, commended both the leadership and employees at the Atlas facilities on their achievement. "It's an accomplishment to be proud of," he said. "Achieving certification on the initial try is an indication of the overall high manufacturing standards, constant focus on product quality and pride that everyone in our manufacturing plants puts into the HSS we make. We've always known that we produce some of the finest structural steel tubing in the world. Now that's been certified."
