LOS ANGELES, Oct. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Dr. Anthony A. Scaduto has been named President and CEO of Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital (LAOH) on an interim basis effective October 14, 2011. His appointment was announced by Michael R. Lombardi, Chairman of the LAOH Board of Directors.

Dr. Scaduto will complement the strong administrative team already in place and is the best person to lead our institution during this period of transition," Mr. Lombardi said.

Dr. Scaduto will replace James V. Luck, Jr., MD who has led the institution since 1989. Dr. Luck announced his plans to retire as President and CEO in 2010 in order to focus on his clinical practice and his leadership positions in the LAOH Hemophilia Treatment Center as well as medical education including the residency program in alliance with UCLA. He will also direct efforts toward the LAOH Conservancy Program.

Dr. Scaduto currently serves as Medical Director and The Charles LeRoy Lowman Professor of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Los Angeles Orthopaedic Hospital as well as Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Santa Monica/UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital. Prior to joining LAOH in 2009, Dr. Scaduto was: Attending Orthopaedic Surgeon at Shriners Hospitals for Children Los Angeles; Assistant Clinical Professor, Orthopaedic Surgery, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine; and Attending Orthopaedic Surgeon, Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.

Edward L. Schneider, MD, member of the LAOH Board of Directors and Chair of the Search Committee, remarked, "Finding a successor to Dr. Luck was challenging given his stature and his enormous impact in the field of orthopaedics. Dr. Scaduto received his undergraduate and medical degrees at UCLA, where he conducted his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery, receiving the UCLA Orthopaedic Surgery Best Resident Research Award. He completed his Postdoctoral Orthopaedic Research Fellowship at UCLA, and held a Fellowship in Pediatric Orthopaedics and Spinal Deformity Surgery at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, Texas.

The Search Committee will remain active during this interim appointment and it is anticipated that a permanent appointment will be made within the next 6-8 months.
