The International Journal of Disclosure and Governance is delighted to announce that an article by Hugh M J Colaco, Paul Myers and Mindell Reiss Nitkin has been selected to receive the 2012 KPMG Outstanding Published Manuscript Award from the Gender Issues & Work-Life Balance Section of the American Accounting Association. This award, in recognition of the research efforts of the authors, will be presented later this year at the American Accounting Association’s annual meeting in Washington DC. In celebration of this achievement, we are making the article free to view for a limited period. Congratulations to our authors for this recognition!

International Journal of Disclosure and Governance is delighted to announce the publication of its first ever open access article, 'Preventing the next wave of unreliable financial reporting: Why US Congress should amend Section 404 of the Sarbanes–Oxley Act'. The article outlines how Section 404 of SOX could be amended to require assurance on ‘effectiveness of risk management processes’ rather than ‘control effectiveness’, increasing the reliability of financial statements and reducing the costs of implementing the act.
